All the ways you can do the training, and different payment options.

Training options; equipping boarding staff with professional qualifications for the new frontiers in student boarding.

This training is:

  • Specifically designed to meet the training needs of people working in the student residential care / boarding industry.
  • For people working in student boarding, or in a residential care work placement or volunteer opportunity, to demonstrate the practical components of the training.
  • A career path and you can request recognition against university degree courses.
Boarding Fundamentals, a cluster of 4 units, a comprehensive overview of student residential care.

A statement of attainment for 4 units of competency from the CHC42015 Certificate IV is achieved after;

  • Completion of the written assessments
  • Completion of practical assessments
  • Skills assessment (by Head of Boarding)

Training is tailored to what suits you best:

  • a face-to-face workshop at your boarding residence (Two to three days),
  • by distance (emailing notes and assessments to you which you email back), or
  • online, where you read notes, watch videos and complete assessments – all online.

Note: Distance and online training is supported by webinars where you can meet boarding staff from other residences.

CHC42015 Certificate IV in Community Services – student residential care.

This Certificate IV qualification contains 15 units (includes Boarding Fundamentals) and is becoming the minimum qualification for many boarding providers in Australia.

The CHC42015 Certificate IV is achieved after;

  • Completion of the written assessments
  • Completion of practical assessments
  • Skills assessment (by Head of Boarding)

Training is tailored to what suits you best:

  • a face-to-face workshop at your boarding residence (Five days),
  • by distance (emailing notes and assessments to you which you email back), or
  • online, where you read notes, watch videos and complete assessments – all online.

Process to complete the Certificate IV by workshop

  1. Staff complete introductory reading /assessments, prior to workshop
  2. Five days of workshops
  3. Practical assessments after the workshop
  4. Head of Boarding to verify skills

CHC50413 Diploma of Youth Work – student residential care.

The Diploma follows on from the Certificate IV and provides a real career path for your boarding staff. The Certificate IV is a pre-requisite and provides RPL or Credit Transfer for 11 of the 21 units required for the Diploma.

The CHC50413 Diploma of Youth Work is achieved after;

  • Completion Certificate IV
  • Completion of the written Diploma assessments
  • Completion of practical assessments
  • Skills assessment (by Head of Boarding)

Training is tailored to what suits you best:

  • a face-to-face workshop at your boarding residence (Five days),
  • by distance (emailing notes and assessments to you which you email back), or
  • online, where you read notes, watch videos and complete assessments – all online.

  1. Boarding Fundamentals  $400

Note: For ‘face to face’ workshops there may be additional cost of travel and accommodation. This depends on the location of the boarding residence.  An option is for the trainers to be accommodated in the boarding residence. Often the travel and accommodation costs can be shared between schools and residences in the area.

Payment options

Payment Plans – Individual staff member paying
Certificate IV: Deposit $200 and $100 per month,
Diploma: Deposit $200 and $200 per month,
Full payment on enrolment: 10% discount

Payment Plans – Employer is paying
a. Full payment on enrolment: 10% discount
b. Face to face workshops: 50% after the workshop, 50% on completion
c. Distance or on-line training: 50% after commencement, 50% on completion
